A Mix of Old and New Styles for the Princess at Nursing Home Engagement – What Kate Wore

The Princess of Wales mixed new and old styles for a nursing home engagement today.

She visited the Oxford House Nursing and Care Home in Slough, about twenty minutes from Windsor.

More from Berkshire Live’s coverage.

She visited Oxford House Nursing Home… to see how the family-run business is caring for the elderly.

Based in Slough, the nursing home looks after up to 34 residents. It also operates a domiciliary care organisation, Oxford House Community Care, which provides support to enable local residents to live independently in their own homes.

The facility uses technology to stimulate and enrich the daily lives of residents and today the Princess played a game of interactive football.

Richard Palmer of The Express shared a video.

The home also has a video wall (seen below) to help patients with dementia. While the Princess was there it showed a train journey.

Below,  the Princess and residents.

Another view.

She seemed to enjoy her talk with him.

The Princess met the home’s oldest resident, Nora Muchmore, who is 107.

More from this Hello piece.

Kate was told that Nora had celebrated her birthday on 7th January. “That’s two days before mine,” she remarked as she tenderly rested her hands on Nora’s knee. “Fellow Capricorn!” she then added with a laugh.

The Princess then asked Nora what her favourite thing to eat is. After some prompting, the older lady replied that she it was kidneys and Brussels sprouts.

Below, another quick video posted by Richard Palmer.

The Princess marked Shrove Tuesday while at the home, trying her hand at making some pancakes.

More from this People story.

To mark Shrove Tuesday — the day before Ash Wednesday, also known as Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras or Pancake Day — the royal joined residents in a pancake-making activity. Kate laughed when the pancake in her flying pan became stuck, using a spatula to separate it and then get it a little flip.

“I’m sorry,” the Princess of Wales told one of the people helping to make the pancakes, according to a video shared on Twitter by The Sun‘s Matt Wilkinson. “I haven’t done you justice.

Emily Nash of Hello posted a video.

And from a Bucks Free Press story about the visit.

During the visit, Kate chatted to residents including Sheila, who asked her how the children are doing on Shrove Tuesday. The 41-year-old mother said: “The children are very well and they’ll be making their own pancakes this evening.”

The royal then tried to make her own pancake admitting her “pancakes always get stuck on the floor or on the ceiling.”

Her pancake was a bit of a flop and she jokingly said: “Perhaps I should flip the pancakes you made earlier!”

Some may remember Pancake Day 2011 when Kate Middleton tried her hand at the same task during a pre-wedding visit to Belfast.

The Princess also spent time meeting the Oxford House staff.

She posed for a formal photo with employees.

The Princess is seen as she leaves the nursing home.

We turn now to a look at what Kate wore for today’s engagement.

The Princess was in her Max & Co Longrun Coat (£439, now sold out). We first saw the wool wrap-style coat in November 2022.

The Princess wore what looks like a new turtleneck; Middleton Maven suggests the Ralph Lauren Cashmere Turtleneck ($1090).

UPDATE: The trousers look like the Roland Muret Lucanus style, with thanks to UFO No More for this ID. We show them in pale pink at My Theresa. The style has been offered in many colors over the years, including navy blue.  One of the many details that match includes a horizontal seam on the front pocket, highlighted below.

The Princess carried her Numéro Sept Mini bag by Polène Paris. The bag was first noted during last May’s Glasgow visit.

She also brought back her Emmy London Josie Pumps ($465).

I have added some more wallet-friendly repliKate possibilities on the repliKate Footwear page.

The Princess wore a new pair of earrings that haven’t yet been identified.

The enamel and gold-trimmed earrings look like they could be a vintage style.

The mask worn by the Princess today looks like the Amaia Kids Blue Phoebe style.
